I Need Web Traffic – Should I Buy Traffic for Website?

Should I buy tartgeted traffic or build it myself?

This is a very good question to start with, because most of the newbies who want to make a site or blog expect that traffic will come as something guaranteed, just because the site or blog is published in the Internet.

This is a myth and anybody who has even run at least one site or blog know that you should FIGHT to get targeted traffic. Fight, because the competition of site and blog owners is getting more and more tough – perhaps, dozens of thousands of new sites pop up daily. And all their owners need traffic.

From my personal experience I should say that before you start any web project (site or blog), make sure you clearly understand where and how you will be getting targeted web site traffic.

There are two options:

• pay money for targeted traffic
• use special Internet marketing and SEO strategies to get that traffic without paying it (though you will invest your time and efforts into the strategies, which means in any case you pay something to get the result)

This post will talk about the major Internet marketing and SEO strategies that you can use to get targeted traffic to your site; the options of buying Internet traffic will be discussed in other posts on the blog.

• Write articles or article marketing

  This method was a real boom about 3 years ago. The advantages are evident.First of all, when you create an interesting article and submit it to popular article directory, this material gets before the eyeballs of thousands of potentially interested readers. If they like the info you have shared with them, they are very likely to click the Author’s link at the bottom of the article and get to your site.Another advantage is that article directories are used as a source of stealing content for other sites and blogs. Those who republish your content, republish it with the Author’s link at the bottom of your article. Which means they give you a backlink – the more backlinks from different sites, the better for the SEO value of your site and the more traffic you will get.

  But, some people republish your content and delete the Author’s link from the article – surely this is a rip off. However you can do nothing about it. Contact any major article directory and complain about someone to republish your content – they will say something like “It’s your problem, contact the owner of the site/blog who did it and settle with them personally.”

  In any case, the value of this strategy is quite valuable to driving more traffic.

• Link building 

  The more links from quality pages with proper keywords you get, the better your position for these keywords your site will have in Google and Yahoo and other search engines. This means that you will have more traffic for these keywords – exactly what you need.But you need to make sure that you receive backlinks from the quality pages and do not get too much incoming links within a short period of time, especially on the fresh sites. This can look suspicious for search engines and they may think you are engaged into some sort of link manipulations. It is not obligatory they will punish you, but it is absolutely not wise to venture the whole online business.

• Forum marketing

  You join niche forums and participate in the discussion – usually in return they allow you publishing a link to a site or several sites in your forum signature. This method is both great for SEO (because usually the forum signatures do not put ‘no follow’ on the links in the signatures, which means they are sharing their SEO power with you) and simply for putting your site link before the eyes of targeted audience.

• Media releases or press release marketing

  A properly written and distributed press release can drive much traffic to your site. This is because lots of informational services need great news in their topic. Where do they get the news? In media and press release agencies.

Surely these are by far not all types of Internet marketing and SEO strategies that can send you traffic, and even each of this strategies has lots of details that are impossible to be published in one post.
